The Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each peace pole bears the message May Peace Prevail on Earth in different languages on each of its sides. There are tens of thousands of Peace Poles in nearly every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace.
When you plant a Peace Pole at your facility, you are linking with people all over the world who have planted their Poles in the same spirit of peace. Every school Peace Pole proclaims May Peace Prevail on Earth in the languages most commonly spoken at that school.
The more than 200,000 Peace Poles around the world are on all continents, in every country you can think of. They are in simple places, such as churches and gardens, and extraordinary ones, such as at the Pyramids of El Giza, Egypt, the Magnetic North Pole in Canada and the site of the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan. They are promoting healing of conflict in places like Sarajevo and the Allenby Bridge between Israel and Jordan as well as in Iraq.
Mayors in many parts of the world have planted Peace Poles to dedicate their cities and towns to world peace. Political leaders, such as former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and religious leaders, such as Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama, have dedicated Peace Poles.
The Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove is honored to dedicate this Peace Pole to Shinnyo-en Chicago. We hope this pole will become the symbol of peace and harmony that exists in your temple. May Peace Prevail on Earth!
