CCC Calendar of Events

The Community Character Coalition supports the following annual events that involve the community and demonstrates Character.

Elk Grove FALLEN SOLDIER Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is based on the CHARACTER COUNTS! pillar of Citizenship. It honors four young citizens of Elk Grove Village who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation in the wars that followed the September 11, 2001 attacks on our nation. The four soldiers are: James S. Cronin, Phillip E. Frank, John T. Olson, and Adriana N. Salem. It is presented by a partnership of the Village of Elk Grove, The Friends of the Elk Grove Library, and the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove.

Elk Grove Park District Junior Leaders

Coalition members present Character Counts! Six Pillar lesson ideas to the junior leaders ages 13-15. Passing on the lessons of Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship is truly rewarding for the CCC members knowing they are assisting in the training of tomorrow’s community leaders!

Feed My Starving Children

Twice a year our members visit FMSC and assist in preparing hand packed meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and they ship these meals to our distribution partners. FMSC meals have reached nearly 70 countries around the world in our history. FMSC is a non for profit organization doing a wonderful job of feeding kids around the world and it is our pleasure to be able to help out in some small way.

Halloween Fest

CCC in collaboration with the Park District host activities supporting the Six Pillars of Character.

Pack the Pantry & Make a Difference Day

During the spring and fall, CCC members host community wide events to collect products for our local pantries. Each year we have provided thousands of items for our community.

Toys for Tots

Each October the Marines come to our monthly meeting and bring collection boxes for the less fortunate kids. We then distribute the boxes around town to places like the park district facilities, the township hall, businesses and the like. Then at our December meeting the Marines pick up the hundreds of toys collected and take them to a distribution center to be given out. We have done this for a number of years.

Youth Recognition

The Community Character Coalition (CCC) of Elk Grove is once again sponsoring a youth recognition night in coordination with the Mayor and Village Trustees of Elk Grove Village. We invite youth service group(s) to participate in the celebration of the wonderful work they do for our community and the world. We encourage all youth service groups to attend this event to promote youth volunteerism in our community. The youth will be honored at Elk Grove Village Hall during a May board meeting. Groups will share their activities with displays and booths set up at Village Hall for the hour preceding the Board meeting. Groups or individuals need to complete a registration form and return it to Betsy Boswell. An email will be sent confirming participation with instructions and details needed for the actual event. Please contact Betsy with questions at babboswell627@gmail.com and return the completed form to Betsy Boswell, CCC, P.O. Box 0184, Elk Grove Village Il 60009-0184.
