Nearly 200 people, most of them children attended the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove Village Celebration of Character last Friday.
Highlights of the event included a magic and variety show by entertainer Tim Hannig, recognition of village residents and groups that exemplified character through the year.Also, Police Chief Steven Schmidt, former Fire Chief David Miller, Elk Grove Baptist Church Rev. Kurt Hansen and others danced to the song “YMCA” complete with Village People hats.
The event raised $1,400 through a split the pot raffle.
CORRECTION: Split the pot raffle raised $2,800 and a lucky winner took home $1,400.
The fifth annual Celebration of Character also marked the Community Character Coalition’s 10th anniversary as an organization.
